SOMALIA, Mogadishu: In a photgraph released by the African Union-United Nations Information Support Team 16 July, a Ugandan doctor serving with the African Union Mission in Somalia (Amisom) treats a severely malnourished baby inside a tent serving as a medical clinic established by the peacekeeping operation in the Somali capital, Mogadishu. The mission’s Civil-Military Component (CIMIC) has erected five large waterproof tents in a camp for internally displaced people near the the city’s airport to serve as accommodation and a medical centre, with the Ugandan doctors offering free medical treatment for people affected and displaced by the drought currently ravaging Somalia and the wider Horn of Africa region.
